Prajwal Ghimire B.K.

Prajwal Ghimire B.K. (Punku) is a talented musician and drummer from Pokhara, now making his mark in

Kathmandu’s music scene. Highly versatile, his musical career has taken him through different places of

Nepal ( Pokhara, Kathmandu, Chitwan, Itahari, Sankhuwasabha, Inaruwa, etc.) as well as some

international places i.e. Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Thailand playing styles as diverse as Jazz, Funk, Pop, Soul,

Rock, Nepali folk, etc. His music is filled with the love for the instrument and music overall, creating different sounds, and deep and joyful grooves. He started off with his professional career, by playing at pubs in Pokhara.

Slowly, catching people’s attention, later on joined a Nationally renowned band from the 90’s named

Dmarcha. After a few years, he moved to Kathmandu and did a 2 year Jazz Diploma at Kathmandu Jazz Conservatory. Currently, he is recording first album with ‘A Sound From Void’. Besides, his other active projects are Le Piro Quartet, April Rush Collective, Benoy Rai Band and also works as a freelancing musician for various projects. He has performed in the main stages of Kathmandu, like Jazzmandu Festival 2022, Katjazz Festival 2023, Bloom Festival 2023, Jazz Upstairs, Moksh, Arbitrary Experience 2022 and many more.

Apart from performing, Punku shares his expertise as a drum faculty at the Kathmandu Jazz Conservatory. He mentors young talents privately and also has done a few weeks session, teaching school kids at Premier International IB Continuum School and Triyog High School in the past.
